Bulldogs Win 10th Match of Season

The Baltic Bulldog volleyball team won their tenth match of the season with a 3-1 win over the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks on Tuesday, September 23rd.  Baltic won the match by scores of 25-14, 25-16, 24-26, and 25-15.

The Bulldogs got out to a quick 6-1 start in the opening set.  The Elks cut the lead down to three points early, 8-5, but that was as close as they would get.  Baltic slowly built a 15-9 lead and then to 23-14 before winning 25-14.  Elkton-Lake Benton took an early 4-2 lead to start the second set.  They continued to lead Baltic by scores of 8-6 and 11-9.  The Bulldogs then went on a 6-3 run to go in front 15-14.  Baltic kept rolling and finished the set on a 10-2 run for the 25-16 win.

The third set was close all the way through.  The Elks started with a 4-1 lead, but Baltic tied the score 5-5.  The Bulldogs then scored the next three points to go in front 8-5.   Elkton-Lake Benton tied the score 10-10.  The two teams were tied 15-15, 17-17, and 19-19.  Baltic took a 22-20 lead and also led 24-22.  The Elks, however, tied the score 24-24 and then scored the next two points to get a 26-24 win and send the match to a fourth set.

After an early 2-2 tie, the Bulldogs went on an 6-1 run for an 8-3 lead.  They then scored the next four points to extend the lead to 12-3.  Baltic pushed the lead to 17-6.  They held leads of 20-12 and 23-13 before winning the set, and the match, 25-15.
