After two wins on Thursday, September 11th at the Big East Conference Tournament, the Baltic Bulldog volleyball team faced the Chester Flyers for the conference tournament championship on Saturday, September 13th in Beresford. This match came days after Chester defeated Baltic in five sets. This time the Flyers would win in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-13, and 25-22.
The opening set started with a 3-3 tie. The set was within two points with Chester leading 8-6. The Flyers then went on a 7-1 run to push the lead to 15-7. That run gave them the momentum the rest of the set for the 25-13 win.
The second set started similar to the first. Baltic grabbed an early 3-2 lead. Chester went in front 5-4 and also led 9-7 and 13-10. The Flyers would use a run in the middle of the set again. They went on a 6-2 run for a 19-12 advantage before winning 25-23.
The two teams began the third set with ties of 3-3 and 5-5. Chester slowly built a 15-10 lead. The Bulldogs rallied to within a point, 16-15, and then scored three straight to take an 18-16 lead. Chester responded with a 4-1 run go back in front 20-19. They remained in the lead the rest of the set to 25-22 and win the match.
Baltic will host West Central on Tuesday, September 16th and then travel to Flandreau on Thursday, September 18th.
