Witzel Sets State Track Record, Wins Javelin

The Baltic Bulldog track team had a great showing at the 2025 South Dakota State A Track and Field Meet in Sioux Falls Thursday, May 29th through Saturday, May 31st.

Daynica Witzel took the javelin title with a throw of 128’1″.  The throw set a state track meet record and school record.  Witzel was also 11th in the triple jump at 33’10.25″ and 17th in the long jump with a jump of 15’1.75″.  Maiya Fredrickson placed sixth in the shot put at 36’4.25″ and 15th in the discus with a throw of 105’7″.  Elise Wilde placed 22nd in the triple jump with a jump of 31’3″.  The 4x800m relay team of Hailey Tiahrt, Sadey Holt, Tenley Witzel, and Alexis Kehn had an eight-place finish in 4:14.32.  The sprint medley relay team of D. Witzel, Clair Berg, Tiahrt, and T. Witzel placed 18th overall in 4:28.57.

Braxten Allen finished ninth in the long jump with a jump of 19’10”.  Kellen Artz was 13th in the high jump with a leap of 6’0″.  Cooper Garry was 14th in the 1600m run in a time of 4:36.98.  Gavin Miller placed 17th in the triple jump at 39’9.5″.  The 4x800m relay team of Ben Erickson, Dylan Runestad, Jack Wilde, and Garry finished 10th in 8:33.79.
