The Baltic high school baseball team hosted McCook Central/Montrose in their final regular season game of the year on Sunday, May 18th. McCook Central/Montrose scored 12 times in the sixth inning to help them to a 17-11 win.
The Burros scored a run right away in the top of the first inning. Baltic had a big bottom of the first inning scoring eight times to take an 8-1 lead. The score remained 8-1 through three innings. Each team added a run in the fourth inning making the score 9-2.
McCook Central/Montrose got two runs in the top of the fifth cutting the lead to 9-4. They then had 12 runs in the sixth inning to take a 16-9 lead. Baltic got two runs in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 16-11. McCook Central/Montrose added an insurance run in the seventh.
Braxten Allen had three hits with an RBI. Gavin Skotvold had two hits and two RBIs. Elias Oakley added a single with two RBIs. Cale Roach had a single and an RBI. AJ Grunewaldt and Isaac Oakley both had a single. Allen pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Skotvold threw 1 2/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts. E. Oakley, I. Oakley, and Laken Kortemeyer all pitched in the game as well.
Baltic finished the season with a 2-12 record.
