The Baltic Bulldog softball team had games on back-to-back days Monday, May 12th and Tuesday, May 13th. Baltic traveled to Chamberlain and earned a win on Monday, but fell at home to West Central on Tuesday.
Baltic 18, Chamberlain 9
The Bulldogs broke the game wide open with a big seventh inning for the 18-9 win over the Cubs. Baltic scored the first eight runs of the game. They had four runs in the first, three in the second, and one more in the top of the fourth for an 8-0 lead. Chamberlain rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 8-6. After a scoreless sixth inning, Baltic exploded for 10 runs in the top of the seventh for an 18-6 score. Chamberlain scored three times in the bottom of the seventh.
Harper Kortemeyer had a double and triple with five RBIs. Ashlyn Klein had two doubles and two RBIs. Ryah Peters had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Ellie Pickett added two singles and two RBIs. Amelia Sinding had two hits with an RBI. Amaris Handsaker also had two singles. Kaylee Siemonsma had a home run with two RBIs. Castyn Rogers had a single. Klein pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed six runs, five earned, on a hit and six walks with nine strikeouts. Charlee Blommer pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, one earned on five walks with four strikeouts.
West Central 17, Baltic 1
The Trojans scored in every inning but one in a 17-1 win on Tuesday. West Central scored eight times right away in the top of the first inning. Baltic scored their lone run in the bottom of the first. The Trojans had seven runs in the top of the second and two more in the top of the fourth. The game ended on the 15-run rules after the fourth inning.
Anna Hoekman and Pickett had the only two hits in game for Baltic. Peters pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed eight earned runs on seven hits and a walk with a strikeout. Klein pitched one inning and allowed six runs, five earned, on three hits and three walks. Blommer threw 2 2/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
