Bulldog Softball Drops Two at Home

The Baltic Bulldogs hosted both Florence/Henry and Castlewood on Friday, May 1st.  The Bulldogs suffered a loss in both games.

Florence/Henry 5, Baltic 1

The Falcons broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the second inning.  Baltic scored their lone run in the bottom of the second on an RBI sacrifice bunt by Amelia Sinding.  Florence/Henry added two more runs in the top of the third.

Ellie Pickett had two hits.  Ashlyn Klein finished with a single, and Sinding had an RBI.  Charlee Blommer pitched five innings and allowed five earned runs on five hits and five walks with 11 strikeouts.

Castlewood 7, Baltic 4

The Warriors scored five times in their first two innings for a 5-0 lead.  Baltic got one run in the bottom of the second and then added a pair of runs in the third to make the score 5-3.  Castlewood scored twice in the top of the fourth to extend the lead to 7-3.  The Bulldogs got just one more run in the bottom of the fifth.

Harper Kortemeyer had a triple and double.  Klein had a home run and an RBI.  Kaylee Siemonsma and Pickett each had a double with an RBI.  Amaris Handsaker and Sinding both had one hit each.  Klein pitched three innings and allowed seven runs, six earned, on seven hits and four walks with a strikeout.  Blommer pitched two innings and allowed one hit and one walk with three strikeouts.
