Bulldog Girls Win at Hometown Basketball Classic

The Baltic Bulldog girls held off the Luverne Cardinals at America’s Hometown Basketball Classic in Madison on Saturday, January 4th.  The Bulldogs survived a fourth-quarter rally for a 45-42 win.

Baltic started hot and built a 10-point lead, 15-5, by the end of the first quarter.  The lead grew to 15 points, 25-10, with 3:00 to play in the second quarter.  Luverne outscored Baltic 10-3 the rest of quarter to cut the lead to 28-20 by halftime.  The Bulldogs maintained a five-to-eight point lead throughout the third quarter.  They led 37-30 going into the fourth quarter.  The Cardinals cut the lead down to two points a couple of times late in the game.  The score was 42-40 with 3:00 to play and then 44-42 with under a minute to go.  The Bulldogs were able to hold off the Cardinals for the win.

Harper Kortemeyer had 14 points, four rebounds, and five steals.  Meredith Larson added 11 points, two rebounds, and two steals.  Kate Bouman had six points and three rebounds.  Caitlyn Pickett ended with five points and five rebounds.  Kaiya Lenderts also had five points with three rebounds.
