Bulldog Volleyball Suffers First Loss of Season

The Baltic Bulldog volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season in Chester on Tuesday, September 9th.  The Flyers defeated the Bulldogs 3-1 by set scores of 25-20, 25-16, 20-25, and 25-20.

The first set started 4-3 in favor of Chester, and they slowly built on that lead throughout the set.  The Flyers increased their lead to 11-5 and then 15-8.  Baltic cut the lead down to four points, 19-15 and 22-18, before Chester took the win 25-20.  A 4-1 start by Chester in the second set kept them in front until the end.  Once again they grew their lead, and it went to 15-7.  The Bulldogs got within three points, 17-14, but Chester went on a 5-0 run to extend the lead to 22-14 and then won 25-16.

The third set went back and fourth.  Baltic started the set with a 5-1 lead.  Chester responded with a 5-0 run to take a 6-5 lead.  The score was then tied 9-9 and again at 14-14.  The Bulldogs went ahead 16-14 only to see Chester score three in a row for a 17-16 lead.  The Bulldogs took the lead for good at 19-18 and won the third set 25-20.  The Flyers started the fourth set 3-1 and never trailed.  They extended their lead to 11-6 and then to 17-7.  The Bulldogs did pull within four points, 21-17, but the Flyers finished the match with a 25-20 win.
