Baltic Volleyball Starts Season with Win

The Baltic Bulldogs had their first match of the 2024 volleyball season at home on Thursday, August 29th against the Colman-Egan Hawks.  The Bulldogs won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-23, 25-17, and 25-21.

The opening set was back and forth for the first half.  Each team had small leads during that time.  The score was tied 7-7 and 12-12.  Baltic then made a 4-0 run to go ahead 16-12.  They continued to stay in the lead at scores of 18-16 and 21-17.  Colman-Egan made a run to tie the score 22-22, but the Bulldogs ended the first set on a 3-1 run to take the win.

The second set was close to start again.  The Bulldogs had just a two-point lead at scores of 4-2, 8-6, and 10-8.  They extended their lead to 14-9 and then to 19-10.  The Hawks tried to rally and cut the lead to 23-16, but Baltic shut down the rally and won 25-17.

Colman-Egan grabbed the early momentum in the third set.  They went ahead 8-4, but the Bulldogs then went on a 6-0 run to take a 10-8 lead.  Baltic slowly grew that two-point lead to seven at 21-14.  Colman-Egan again rallied and got within four points, 23-19, but the Bulldogs closed out the match with a 25-21 win.
