The Baltic 14U baseball team took part in the 2024 South Dakota VFW 14U State B Tournament in Garretson on Friday, July 26th through Sunday, July 28th. Baltic lost their first two games ended their tournament.
Britton 13, Baltic 3
In the opening round on Friday, Baltic held a 3-1 lead after the first inning. After a scoreless second inning, Britton scored 12 straight runs. They got six in the third, three in the fourth, one in the fifth, and then two more in the sixth.
Gavin Skotvold had a triple and an RBI. AJ Gruenwaldt and Braeden Turner both had a single and an RBI. Cale Roach, Zach Hagleson, and Hayden Sunderman all had one hit each.
Emery-Ethan 8, Baltic 5
Emery-Ethan scored six runs late in the game to get a come-from-behind win over Baltic on Saturday. Baltic trailed 2-1 after the first inning. Baltic took the lead 4-2 with three runs in the bottom of the third. They added one more in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 5-2. Emery-Ethan took the lead back in the top of the sixth, 6-5, with four runs. They added two more runs in the top of the seventh.
Brody Hansen had two hits with an RBI. Roach also had two hits. Gruenwaldt, Hagleson, and Sunderman all had one hit and one RBI each.
