Baltic 16U Drops Two Games in League Tournament

The Baltic 16U baseball team lost both of their I-29 League Tournament games in Humboldt on Friday, June 14th and Saturday, June 15th.  Baltic lost to Parker and Tri-Valley Maroon.

Parker 4, Baltic 3

Parker took an early lead with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.  They were able to add to that lead, 4-0, with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth.  The score remained 4-0 until the top of the sixth.  Baltic rallied for three runs on two outs before having their rally stopped short.

Jackson Goehring had two hits and an RBI.  Braxton Allen also had two hits.  Isaac Oakley and AJ Grunewaldt both had one hit each.  Gavin Skotvold pitched three innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts.  Goehring pitched an inning and allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk with one strikeout.  Joey Grunewaldt also threw an inning and allowed one hit with one strikeout.

Tri-Valley Maroon 11, Baltic 3

Tri-Valley broke a 3-3 tie with eight runs in the final two innings to take the win.  After Tri-Valley scored two runs in the top of the first, Baltic got a run back in the bottom of the inning.  Tri-Valley extended their lead to 3-1 with a run in the third.  Baltic tied the game in the bottom of the fourth by scoring two runs.  Tri-Valley, however, scored three times in the fifth inning and then added five more in the sixth for the win.

Allen finished with two singles.  Oakley had a hit and two RBIs.  J. Grunewaldt also had a hit.  Allen pitched two innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  J. Grunewaldt pitched three innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits with three strikeouts.  Oakley threw an inning and allowed five earned runs on three hits and three walks with one strikeout.
