The Baltic Bulldogs advanced in the Region 3A volleyball tournament after a straight set win against Garretson on Tuesday, October 31st. The Bulldogs hosted the Blue Dragons and won by set scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-22.
Garretson took an early lead to start the first set, 6-2. The Blue Dragons maintained the lead by scores of 8-6 and 13-11. Baltic finally got the set tied 17-17 and then went on a 6-0 run for a 23-17 advantage. Garretson scored the next three points to make the score 23-20, but the Bulldogs got the final two points for a 25-20 win.
The Blue Dragons started the second set with a 4-2 lead. Baltic tied the score 4-4 and then went ahead 8-5. The Bulldogs continued to lead 11-7, but Garretson scored four in a row to tie the score 11-11. Baltic went on a 5-0 run for a 16-11 lead. Garretson cut the lead to two points, 20-18 and 22-20, but Baltic stopped the run and scored the final three points for another 25-20 win.
Garretson started the third set with the lead again, 6-3. They pushed the lead to 12-6 only to see Baltic tie the score 12-12. The score was tied again 15-15 and 17-17. The Bulldogs built a 22-19 lead and kept that three point lead all the way to a 25-22 win.
Baltic will travel to Sioux Falls Christian to play the #1 seeded Chargers in a SoDak 16 qualifying match on Thursday, November 2nd.
