A big third quarter run by the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies helped them to a 55-24 win over the Alcester-Hudson Cubs girls basketball team on Friday, January 6th in Elk Point.
The Huskies held a 10-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The lead held steady at six points, 17-11, at halftime. Unfortunately for the Cubs, the Huskies outscored Alcester-Hudson 29-5 in the third quarter to lead 46-16.
The Cubs shot 29% (10-34) from the field, 25% (1-4) from three-point area, and 60% (3-5) from the free-throw line. The Huskies finished 44% (22-50) from the field, 24% (7-29) from three-point area, and 80% (4-5) from the free-throw line.
Elly Doering had 10 points and two rebounds. Sarah Ebert had three points and two rebounds. Kayleigh Thompson also had three points and a rebound. Carly Patrick, Emma Solberg, Jenna Manning, and Ashlynn Smith all had two points each.
