{"id":3145,"date":"2026-04-13T22:45:54","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T03:45:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/?p=3145"},"modified":"2026-04-13T22:45:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T03:45:57","slug":"west-central-baseball-wins-first-game-of-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/2026\/04\/13\/west-central-baseball-wins-first-game-of-season\/","title":{"rendered":"West Central Baseball Wins First Game of Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1064\" src=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/WCBA_Logo-150x140.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/WCBA_Logo-150x140.png 150w, https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/WCBA_Logo.png 202w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>The West Central high school baseball team won their first game of the season on Friday, April 10th.\u00a0 A four-run inning helped them to a 5-2 win over Hanson\/Brdgewater-Emery.<\/p>\n<p>Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard through the first four innings of the game.\u00a0 JT Steckley delivered an RBI double in the top of the fifth to put West Central ahead 1-0.\u00a0 Nick Lorang had an RBI single later in the inning.\u00a0 Zach Lorang scored on a wild pitch, and Gunnar Alfson had an RBI sacrifice fly giving West Central a 4-0 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Hanson\/Bridgewater-Emery cut the lead in half, 4-2, with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.\u00a0 Steckley added another RBI in the top of the sixth to extend the lead to 5-2.\u00a0 Hanson\/Bridgewater-Emery loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but CJ Den Boer got a strikeout to end the game.<\/p>\n<p>Den Boer had two hits.\u00a0 Steckley had a double and two RBIs.\u00a0 Alfson and N. Lorang each had a hit and an RBI.\u00a0 Beckett Everson and Hayden Whiting both had a double each.\u00a0 Z. Lorang had one hit.\u00a0 Alfson pitched four innings and allowed a hit and four walks with 11 strikeouts.\u00a0 Everson pitched 2\/3 of an innnig and allowed two earned runs on a hit and three walks with a strikeout.\u00a0 Den Boer threw 2 1\/3 innings and gave up two hits and two walks with two strikeouts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The West Central high school baseball team won their first game of the season on Friday, April 10th.\u00a0 A four-run inning helped them to a 5-2 win over Hanson\/Brdgewater-Emery.
