{"id":2882,"date":"2025-10-24T11:37:36","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T16:37:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/?p=2882"},"modified":"2025-10-24T11:37:37","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T16:37:37","slug":"gross-throws-four-touchdowns-in-trojan-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/2025\/10\/24\/gross-throws-four-touchdowns-in-trojan-win\/","title":{"rendered":"Gross Throws Four Touchdowns in Trojan Win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-275\" src=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/WestCentralTrojans.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"96\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/WestCentralTrojans.png 96w, https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/WestCentralTrojans-80x80.png 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 96px) 100vw, 96px\" \/>Carter Gross threw four touchdowns to help the West Central Trojans get back into the win column in a 34-10 victory over the Vermillion Tanagers on Thursday, October 23rd.<\/p>\n<p>Boche Knight opened the night with a bang by scoring on a 56-yard run just :18 into the game.&nbsp; Dominic Butts made the extra point to put West Central ahead 7-0 early.&nbsp; Vermillion got on the board with 4:43 to go in the first quarter with a 33-yard field goal to make the score 7-3.<\/p>\n<p>Gross threw his first touchdown to Knight, a 57-yard swing pass, with 3:13 still remaining in the opening quarter.&nbsp; Butts made the extra point again to extend the lead to 14-3.&nbsp; Vermillion kept things close as they scored on a 32-yard touchdown pass with just :27 to go in the quarter.&nbsp; A made extra point cut the lead to 14-10 going into the second quarter.<\/p>\n<p>It was all West Central from that point.&nbsp; Gross had his second passing touchdown with 9:26 to go in the first half, this time a 53-yard pass to Hayden Heier.&nbsp; Gross and Knight connected again with 4:20 to play in the third quarter on a 21-yard pass.&nbsp; Butts made one-of-two extra points in the quarter to give West Central a 27-10 advantage.&nbsp; Gross had a two-yard touchdown pass to Heier, who made a diving catch in the end zone on a slant, with 4:15 to play in the third quarter.&nbsp; Butts made the extra point for the 34-10 score.<\/p>\n<p>The Trojans finished the regular season with a 6-3 record and will be the #5 seed in the 11A playoffs.&nbsp; They will travel to #4 Madison on Thursday, October 30th for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carter Gross threw four touchdowns to help the West Central Trojans get back into the win column in a 34-10 victory over the Vermillion Tanagers on Thursday, October 23rd.
