The West Central 16U baseball team won three of their last four baseball games.\u00a0 They earned a win over Madison Maroon on Thursday, July 18th.\u00a0 They split two games on Saturday, July 20th, beating Hamlin but falling to Parkston.\u00a0 West Central then got a win over Baltic on Monday, July 22nd.<\/p>\n
In their game on Thursday, West Central used a six-run inning to pull away from Madison for the win.\u00a0 Madison took a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first.\u00a0 West Central grabbed the lead with two runs in the bottom of the first and then went ahead 4-1 with two more in the second.\u00a0 Each team scored two runs in the third inning for a 6-3 score.\u00a0 After Madison cut the lead to 6-4 with a run in the top of the fourth, West Central scored six times in the bottom of the inning.\u00a0 Both teams got a run in the fifth.<\/p>\n
Alex Siemonsma had three hits and four RBIs.\u00a0 Zach Lorang added two doubles and an RBI.\u00a0 CJ DenBoer also had two hits, including a double, and an RBI.\u00a0 Ashton Gebhard had two hits, one a double.\u00a0 Keaton Vessells had a single and an RBI.\u00a0 Nick Lorang, Langdon Klinkhammer, and Taten VanOverbeke all had one hit each.\u00a0 Hayes Cain finished with two RBIs.<\/p>\n
Three pitchers combined to hold Hamlin to no hits with eight strikeouts in a 10-0 victory.\u00a0 Cain pitched an inning and had one strikeout.\u00a0 VanOverbeke pitched an inning and struck out three batters.\u00a0 Klinkhammer threw two innings and had four strikeouts.<\/p>\n
Offensively West Central scored five runs in the top of the first, one in the second, and four more in the fourth.\u00a0 Gebhard had two singles and two RBIs.\u00a0 DenBoer had two doubles with an RBI.\u00a0 Vessells added a single and two RBIs.\u00a0 Jacob Mallinger had a single and an RBI.\u00a0 Z. Lorang and VanOverbeke each had one hit.<\/p>\n
Parkston scored four runs in the first two innings to take an early 4-0 lead.\u00a0 West Central got a single run in the fourth and sixth innings to make the score 4-2.\u00a0 Parkston, however, added three runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn the 7-2 win.<\/p>\n
N. Lorang had the only two hits in the game for West Central.\u00a0 VanOverbeke had an RBI.<\/p>\n
Two big innings early in the game helped West Central to an 11-1 win over Baltic on Monday.\u00a0 Baltic scored a run in the top of the first inning, but it was all West Central after that.\u00a0 They scored five runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the second for a 9-1 lead.\u00a0 Two more runs were scored in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.<\/p>\n
N.
