{"id":1155,"date":"2023-07-05T15:23:48","date_gmt":"2023-07-05T20:23:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/?p=1155"},"modified":"2023-07-05T15:31:07","modified_gmt":"2023-07-05T20:31:07","slug":"west-central-legion-wins-two-on-back-to-back-nights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/2023\/07\/05\/west-central-legion-wins-two-on-back-to-back-nights\/","title":{"rendered":"West Central Legion Wins Two on Back-to-Back Nights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1064\" src=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/WCBA_Logo-150x140.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/WCBA_Logo-150x140.png 150w, https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/west-central\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/WCBA_Logo.png 202w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>The West Central Legion baseball team won two games on back-to-back nights.&nbsp; They traveled to Volga on Tuesday, June 27th and then hosted Flandreau on Wednesday, June 28th.<\/p>\n<h5>West Central 14, Volga 2<\/h5>\n<p>West Central turned a close game into a big win with a huge seventh inning.&nbsp; The lead for West Central was only 5-2 after six innings of play.&nbsp; West Central would then score nine times in the top of the seventh to blow the game open and take the win.<\/p>\n<p>Will Nester finished with four hits, one a double, and four RBIs.&nbsp; Connor Siemonsma had three hits, including a double, and and two RBIs.&nbsp; Domo Chandeswang and Andrew Zimmer both had two singles and an RBI each.&nbsp; CJ DenBoer finished with a double and two RBIs.&nbsp; Gage Nelson and Mason Behrens both had a single and an RBI.&nbsp; Duece Sherard had a double.&nbsp; Mason Schult pitched all seven innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.<\/p>\n<h5>West Central 9, Flandreau 8<\/h5>\n<p>West Central broke a 5-5 tie and scored just enough runs to hold off Flandreau on Wednesday for the 9-8 with.&nbsp; Both teams scored three runs in the first and two more in the third for a 5-5 tie.&nbsp; Flandreau got one run in the top of the fourth, but West Central scored two times for a 7-6 lead.&nbsp; After Flandreau tied the game in the top of the fifth, West Central got a single run in both the fifth and sixth innings to go ahead 9-7.&nbsp; Flandreau got one run in the top of the seventh, but Owen Heath got a strikeout to end the game.<\/p>\n<p>Chandeswang finished with three hits, one a double.&nbsp; Siemonsma had two doubles and two RBIs.&nbsp; Derek Renken also had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.&nbsp; Nester had two hits, one a double.&nbsp; Nelson had a single and an RBI.&nbsp; Sherard had one hit, and Zimmer had an RBI.&nbsp; Zimmer pitched four innings and allowed six runs, all earned, on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts.&nbsp; Heath pitched three innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The West Central Legion baseball team won two games on back-to-back nights.&nbsp; They traveled to Volga on Tuesday, June 27th and then hosted Flandreau on Wednesday, June 28th.
