The Tri-Valley 17U baseball team won one of their last three games.\u00a0 They finished 1-1 in the I-29 League Tournament.\u00a0 In the tournament they defeated Canton on Friday, June 19th but lost to Flandreau on Sunday, June 21st.\u00a0 Tri-Valley then lost a home game to West Central on Tuesday, June 23rd.<\/p>\n
A four-run fourth inning was key to Tri-Valley getting a 5-4 win over Canton.\u00a0 Tri-Valley scored first with a run in the bottom of the second inning.\u00a0 Canton grabbed the lead, 2-1, with two runs in the top of the third.\u00a0 Tri-Valley responded with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to go back in front 5-2.\u00a0 Canton scored two more times in the top of the fifth, but Tri-Valley held for the win.<\/p>\n
Abbott Moeller, Dante Nehman, and Reed Smith all had a hit and RBI each.\u00a0 Lawson Schneiderman, Evan Focken, Will Winter, and Gerrit Koopman all had one hit each.\u00a0 Schneiderman pitched six innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.<\/p>\n
Tri-Valley came up shot in a pitcher’s duel against Flandreau.\u00a0 The two teams combined for a total of just six hits.\u00a0 Flandreau scored a run in the bottom of the first and then added another run in the bottom of the fifth in the victory.<\/p>\n
Parker Atwood and Koopman had the only two hits for Tri-Valley.\u00a0 Focken pitched five innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.\u00a0 Moeller pitched one inning and had one strikeout.<\/p>\n
Tri-Valley grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but West Central took the lead for good with four runs in the top of the second.\u00a0 They added two runs in the fourth to make the score 6-2.\u00a0 Tri-Valley cut the lead to 6-4 with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth.\u00a0 West Central, however, kept their offense rolling with two runs in the fifth, four in the sixth, and three more in the seventh.\u00a0 Tri-Valley added just one more run in the bottom of the sixth.<\/p>\n
Atwood finished with two hits, one a double, and three RBIs.\u00a0 Focken had two singles with two RBIs.\u00a0 Cooper Durick also had a double.\u00a0 Nehman, Schneiderman, Winter, and Koopman all had one hit each.\u00a0 Winter pitched five innings and allowed 10 earned runs on 10 hits and six walks with one strikeout.\u00a0 Koopman tossed two innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on five hits and a walk with one strikeout.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
