The Tri-Valley 14U Maroon baseball team finished fourth at the 2025 South Dakota VFW Bravo Division State Tournament in Clear Lake held Friday, August 8th through Sunday, August 10th.\u00a0 They played two pool-play games on Friday, a bracket game on Saturday, and then the placement game on Sunday.\u00a0 Tri-Valley finished with an overall record of 2-2 on the weekend.<\/p>\n
In the first pool-play game on Friday, Tri-Valley took advantage of eight walks, a hit by pitch, and an error in the first inning.\u00a0 Dell Rapids scored a run in the top of the first, but Tri-Valley scored 10 times in the bottom of the inning.\u00a0 Neither team scored the rest of the game.<\/p>\n
Bentley McMillen and Gerrit Koopman each had a single and an RBI.\u00a0 Reed Smith and Elliot Powell both had a hit.\u00a0 Nolan Campbell, Porter Amundson, Will Winter, and Trey Sorenson all had an RBI.\u00a0 McMillen pitched 1 2\/3 innings and allowed an unearned run on two walks with three strikeouts.\u00a0 Smith pitched 2 1\/3 innings and allowed two hits and two walks with two strikeouts.\u00a0 Amundson threw one inning and had one walk and one strikeout.<\/p>\n
In the second pool-play game, Tri-Valley cruised past Claremont in four innings.\u00a0 Tri-Valley scored a run in the first, five in the second, and five more in the third for an 11-0 lead.\u00a0 Claremont got both of their runs in the bottom of the third.\u00a0 Tri-Valley then scored seven times in the top of the fourth before the game ended on the 10-run rule.<\/p>\n
McMillen had three hits, one a double, and three RBIs.\u00a0 Campbell had two hits and four RBIs.\u00a0 Koopman added two singles and an RBI.\u00a0 Amundson had two hits, one a double.\u00a0 Brody Williams had a single and two RBIs.\u00a0 Smith and Sorenson each had a single and an RBI.\u00a0 Legend Frederick had a hit, and Winter had an RBI.<\/p>\n
In the bracket-play game on Saturday, Sisseton broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the third inning.\u00a0 After two more scoreless innings, Sisseton had three more runs in the top of the sixth for a 6-0 lead.\u00a0 They scored two more times in the seventh.\u00a0 Tri-Valley scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh.<\/p>\n
Winter had a single and an RBI.\u00a0 Amundson had a double.\u00a0 Smith, Koopman, and Williams all had one hit each.\u00a0 McMillen pitched four innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on three hits with eight strikeouts.<\/p>\n
Tri-Valley faced Winner in the 3rd\/4th place game on Sunday.\u00a0 Winner scored seven of their eight runs in the first three innings.\u00a0 They scored a run in the first, one in the second, and five more in the third.\u00a0 They added another run in the top of the fifth.\u00a0 Tri-Valley was held to just one hit in the game, a single by Sorenson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
