\"\"<\/a>The Tri-Valley Mustang girls and boys basketball teams traveled to Canton for a doubleheader against the C-Hawks on Tuesday, January 25th.\u00a0 The Mustang girls won 53-45, but the boys fell 39-67.<\/p>\n

Tri-Valley 53, Canton 45 – Girls<\/h4>\n

The Mustangs had a second and third quarter rallies to give them a lead, and they were able to fend off a rally by Canton for the win.\u00a0 Tri-Valley had a 9-4 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the C-Hawks tied the game 14-14 midway through the second quarter.\u00a0 The Mustangs then went on a 9-0 run to lead 23-14.\u00a0 Canton responded with a 6-0 run to make the score 23-20 in favor of the Mustangs at halftime.<\/p>\n

The C-Hawks continued the run into the third quarter to give them a 26-23 lead.\u00a0 The Mustangs finished the quarter on an 11-0 run for a 34-26 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.\u00a0 Canton cut the lead to two points, 42-40, but Lauren Grinde made a three-pointer to end a 5-0 run to give the Mustangs a 47-40 lead.\u00a0 Tri-Valley was able to hold off Canton the remainder of the game for the win.<\/p>\n

Grinde had 20 points to lead Tri-Valley.\u00a0 Paige Jewett had nine points.\u00a0 Ava Pearson finished with eight points, and Madelyn Wenzel had seven points.<\/p>\n

Canton 67, Tri-Valley 39 – Boys<\/h4>\n

Canton built a 17-point lead throughout the first half of the game.\u00a0 The C-Hawks led 16-8 at the end of the first quarter and then extended the lead to 35-18 at halftime.\u00a0 The Mustangs made the first three-pointer of the third quarter to make the score 35-21, but Canton went on a 15-0 run from there to put the game out of reach.\u00a0 Canton led 56-29 at the end of the third quarter.<\/p>\n

Cory McDonald had 10 points.\u00a0 Noah Haynes finished with seven points.\u00a0 Owen Besmer had five points, and Connor Christensen added four points.\u00a0 Riley Carlson, Carter Sorenson, and Trey Johnson all had three points each.<\/p>\n
