The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team had their first home match of the season on Thursday, August 24th.\u00a0 The Mustangs hosted the Parker Pheasants.\u00a0 Tri-Valley earned their first win, 3-1, by scores of 25-21, 22-25, 26-24, and 25-20.<\/p>\n
The Mustangs opened the match with an early 4-1 run in the first set.\u00a0 The Pheasants responded with a 6-0 run to take the lead 7-4.\u00a0 Parker extended that lead to 12-7 before Tri-Valley made a run.\u00a0 The Mustangs went on a 10-0 run to regain the lead 17-12.\u00a0 Parker got with in a point, 20-19, but Tri-Valley finished the first set on a 5-2 run to take the win.\u00a0 After an early 5-3 lead by Tri-Valley, Parker tied the second set 7-7 and then led for most of the set.\u00a0 They held leads of 12-7, 16-11, and 21-16.\u00a0 The Mustangs rallied to tie the score 22-22, but the Pheasants scored the final three points to win the second set and tie the match 1-1.<\/p>\n
The third set was back-and-forth through most of it.\u00a0 The teams were tied 7-7 and 12-12.\u00a0 The Mustangs were able to go on a 5-1 run to take a 17-13 advantage.\u00a0 Parker closed the gap to 17-16, but Tri-Valley had a 5-0 run to extend the lead to 22-16.\u00a0 Tri-Valley was at set point, 24-21, but Parker rallied for three straight to tie the score 24-24.\u00a0 The Mustangs rebounded and scored the final two points to win 26-24.\u00a0 The Pheasants looked to be in control of the fourth set through the halfway point.\u00a0 They built a 12-6 lead and still led 14-10.\u00a0 Tri-Valley then took momentum with a 7-0 rally to go in front 17-14.\u00a0 They maintained a three-point lead all the way to 22-19 before ending the set and match 25-20.<\/p>\n
Emery Pearson had 13 kills, two ace serves, and two blocks.\u00a0 Madelyn Wenzel finished with six kills and nine digs.\u00a0 Nevaeh Gran had four kills and an ace.\u00a0 Tori O’Toole also had four kills.\u00a0 McKenzie Atwood tallied two ace serves, and Julia Mauszycki had one ace and five digs.\u00a0 Abby Wagner finished with 21 set assists, and Emily Wenzel had nine.\u00a0 Cheyenne Hanson had five digs on the night.<\/p>\n\n\n
