Robert Anton Kopren passed away on April 25, 2012, at the VA Medical Center in Loma Linda, California, after a short illness. A private family service will be held.
Robert (Bob) Anton Kopren was born on September 23, 1927 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was the third child of Anton and Agnes Johnson Kopren. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and graduated from Washington High School. He served in the US Air Force, serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations, stationed in Guam and Okinawa. He returned to Sioux Falls and worked for the Farley and Loetcher Mfg. Co. He met Evelyn Crane Peters through their shared interest in bowling. They were married on June 5, 1961.
Subsequently they moved to Seattle, Washington, where Bob worked for the Boeing Aircraft Company as a mechanic, and then to Lancaster, California, where he worked for Lockheed-Martin and Rockwell. In retirement, Bob and Evelyn lived and traveled in their motor-home, in CA and across the country. Bob enjoyed fishing and was an avid football fan. Bob and Evelyn celebrated 33 years of marriage before she passed away in 1994.
Bob is predeceased by his wife Evelyn; his parents; his brother Jerald (Jerry) Alden Kopren; and his step-son Ike Peters. He is survived by his sister, LaVonne Kopren Whitney, brother-in-law Frank Grant Whitney, nieces Christine Whitney Guzowski and Marilyn Whitney, all of DeFuniak Springs, FL; step-daughter Beverly Peters Butler and son-in-law William Butler, of Lancaster, CA; several nieces, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; a great-nephew; and special cousins Larry and wife Karen Larson and Shirley Larson Gray of Brandon, SD, Joslyn Rae Hansen of Sioux Falls, SD and Christie Weelborg Hainje of Dell Rapids, SD.
