Young De Smet Cross Country Team Eager for 2023 Season

The 2023 De Smet Bulldog cross country team is returning eight letter winners from a year ago and will look to improve on their seasons from a year ago.  Last year the Bulldogs had individual place winners at both the LCC and DVC meets and had two runners qualify for state, Bella Wilkinson and Adalyn Gross.

Both of those runners are back along with Gabe Aughenbagh, Connor Johnson, Kaleb Johnson, Chase Temme, Jo Botkin, and Charli McCune.  Head coach Cory Haugen also expects Noah Luethmers and Owen Anderson to be competitive this season.

“We have a few runners that got the taste of competing at state last year and a few more that were very close to make it.  Those competitors look forward to trying to achieve that goal again this year as well as some of our other runners that can progress this year and compete at the varsity level.  We have a very young team with only one senior (Johnson) who will need to help lead.  Many of the younger runners are eager and excited to get out on the course,” said Haugen.

The Bulldogs first meet of the year will be the Deubrook Invite in White on Saturday, August 26th.
