De Smet Boys Open Season with Home Win

The De Smet Bulldog boys basketball team also started their 2022-2023 season with a home win over the Deubrook Area Dolphins on Friday, December 9th.

The Dolphins had a quick start getting a head 6-2, but their lead was short lived.  The Bulldog offense got rolling, and De Smet led 24-15 at the end of the first quarter.  They pushed the lead to 39-27 at halftime.  Deubrook made a run in the third quarter and got within five points, 46-41, but the Bulldogs ended the quarter on an 8-2 run for a 54-43 lead.  De Smet outscored the Dolphins 16-8 in the final quarter.

The Bulldogs shot 43% (29-67) overall, just 2-11 from three-point area, and 50% (10-20) from the free-throw line.  Deubrooko was 30% (19-64) from the field, 25% (4-16) from three-point area, and 56% (9-16) from the free-throw line.  Deubrook did out-rebound De Smet 43-33, but the Dolphins committed 18 turnovers.

Damon Wilkinson had 24 points, 13 rebounds, and six blocks in the game.  Kadyn Fast had 16 points, five rebounds, three steals, and two assists.  George Jensen finished with 11 points, three rebounds, and two steals.
