A late rally helped Dell Rapids to an opening round win over Groton on Friday.\u00a0 Dell Rapids scored four runs in the top of the second and then another in the top of the third for a 5-0 lead.\u00a0 Groton got one run back in the bottom of the third, but they then had a seven-run fourth inning to take an 8-5 lead.\u00a0 The score remained 8-5 until the top of the seventh.<\/p>\n
With two outs Dell Rapids put together a game-tying rally.\u00a0 Oakley Wolff hit a single that drove home a run to make the score 8-6.\u00a0 With the bases loaded, Dawson Bunkers hit a two-run double to tie the game 8-8.\u00a0 After holding Groton scoreless in the bottom of the seventh despite having the bases loaded, momentum swung to Dell Rapids.\u00a0 They scored four times in the top of the eighth to take the win.<\/p>\n
Bunkers had three hits, two of them doubles, and four RBIs.\u00a0 Wolff had two hits and three RBIs.\u00a0 Easton Davis had a double and a single.\u00a0 Henry Baker added a single and three RBIs.\u00a0 Maddox Amundson had a hit with an RBI.\u00a0 Brooks Brende ended with a double.\u00a0 Chace Stroschein had a single.<\/p>\n
Three runs in the top of the sixth inning proved to be the difference for Winner\/Colome in the semifinals on Saturday.\u00a0 Winner\/Colome scored two times in the top of the first and then added single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings for a 5-0 lead.\u00a0 Dell Rapids rallied for five in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game 5-5, but Winner\/Colome then had their three-run sixth inning to take the win.<\/p>\n
Will Price had a double and single with two RBIs.\u00a0 Brende had a hit and two RBIs.\u00a0 Stroschein added a single with an RBI.\u00a0 Davis also had a hit.<\/p>\n
In the 3rd\/4th place game on Sunday, Dell Rapids bounced back to defeat Lennox for third place.\u00a0 Dell Rapids scored first in the bottom of the second for a 1-0 lead.\u00a0 Lennox tied the game, 1-1, with a run in the top of the third.\u00a0 Dell Rapids pushed two runs across the plate in the bottom of the third and then had a big five-run fourth for an 8-1 score.<\/p>\n
Bunkers had three hits with an RBI.\u00a0 \u00a0Davis also had three hits.\u00a0 Brody Konz had two singles and two RBIs.\u00a0 Baker added two singles.\u00a0 Price had a triple with an RBI.\u00a0 Stroschein and Wolff each had a hit with an RBI.\u00a0 Brende had two RBIs.\u00a0 Bunkers pitched 4 2\/3 innings and allowed an earned run on seven hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts.\u00a0 Stroschein pitched 2 1\/3 innings and allowed two hits and three walks with four strikeouts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
