The Dell Rapids Jr Legion baseball team played five games in a span of five days between Friday, June 19th and Tuesday, June 23rd.\u00a0 They played three games in the I-29 League tournament between Friday and Sunday.\u00a0 They then traveled to Baltic on Monday and Garretson on Tuesday.\u00a0 Dell Rapids finished 2-3 in those five games.<\/p>\n
Four early runs helped Dell Rapids get a win over Canton on Friday, June 19th.\u00a0 They scored four runs right away in the top of the first.\u00a0 Canton picked up a run in the second.\u00a0 The score remained 4-1 until the sixth.\u00a0 Dell Rapids added two insurance runs while holding Canton to just one run.<\/p>\n
Caiden Borns had three hits in the game.\u00a0 Owen Bollock had a hit and two RBIs.\u00a0 AJ Brandenburg and Rhett Thoreson each had one hit.\u00a0 Lucas Peppel finished with two RBIs, and Bryson Schroeder also had an RBI.<\/p>\n
Dell Rapids had an early 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the first against Flandreau on Saturday, June 20th.\u00a0 Flandreau, however, socred two in the third, two in the fourth, and then single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take the win.<\/p>\n
Borns collected two hits in the game.\u00a0 Peppel had a single and an RBI.\u00a0 Schroeder had a hit as well.\u00a0 Will Price pitched four innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on three hits and five walks with five strikeouts.<\/p>\n
Canton avenged their loss on Friday with a 4-1 victory on Sunday, June 21st.\u00a0 They scored a run in the bottom of the second and then had a three-run fifth inning for a 4-0 lead.\u00a0 Dell Rapids scored just one time in the top of the seventh inning.<\/p>\n
Borns had a single with an RBI.\u00a0 Charlie Bollock and Hayden King each had a double.\u00a0 Brandenburg, Schroeder, and Thoreson all had one single each.\u00a0 C. Bollock pitched four innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on three hits and four walks with two strikeouts.<\/p>\n
Dell Rapids couldn’t keep pace with Baltic on Monday, June 22nd.\u00a0 Each team scored a run in the opening inning.\u00a0 Baltic then scored five runs in the bottom of the second for a 6-1 lead.\u00a0 Dell Rapids got one run back in the top of the third, but Baltic added three more runs in the bottom of the inning for a 9-2 lead.\u00a0 They got another run in the bottom of the fifth.\u00a0 Dell Rapids plated two runs in the top of the sixth, but Baltic ended the game on the 10-run rule with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.<\/p>\n
C. Bollock had two hits, one a double.\u00a0 Peppel had a single and an RBI.\u00a0 Brandenburg, Thoreson, and Knox Cuny all had one hit each.\u00a0 Haiden Kaffar had an RBI as well.<\/p>\n
Dell Rapids ended the string of games with a win in Garretson on Tuesday, June 23rd.\u00a0 After a scoreless first inning, Dell Rapids had a big six-run second inning and then added two more in the third for an 8-0 lead.\u00a0 Garretson got a run in the bottom of the fifth.\u00a0 Dell Rapids scored two more times in the top of the sixth.\u00a0 Garretson’s last run came in the bottom of the seventh.<\/p>\n
Borns and C. Bollock each had two hits with an RBI.\u00a0 Brandenburg and Kaffar both had a single with two RBIs.\u00a0 Thoreson had a hit with an RBI.\u00a0 Peppel, O.
