The Dell Rapids high school baseball team won their last three games and increased their winning streak to seven straight games.\u00a0 They earned a win over Sioux Falls Christian on Wednesday, May 7th, a win over Flandreau on Thursday, May 8th, and then a win over Mt Vernon\/Plankinton\/Corsica\/Stickney (MVPCS) on Sunday, May 11th.<\/p>\n
Seven early runs helped Dell Rapids to the win over Sioux Falls Christian on May 7th.\u00a0 Dell Rapids scored five times in the bottom of the first.\u00a0 Sioux Falls Christian got a run in the top of the second, but Dell Rapids responded with two more in the bottom of the second for a 7-1 lead.\u00a0 Sioux Falls Christian cut the lead to 7-4 with three runs in the top of the third.\u00a0 The score remained 7-4 until the bottom of the fifth.\u00a0 Dell Rapids scored one more time in the fifth.\u00a0 Sioux Falls Christian added another run in the top of the seventh.<\/p>\n
Tad Tjaden had two hits with an RBI.\u00a0 Ryan Brandenberg had a single with two RBIs.\u00a0 Connor Hanson added a single and an RBI.\u00a0 Cole Ruesink, Jackson Peppel, and Talan Millage all had one hit each.\u00a0 Tjaden pitched 2 2\/3 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on three hits and four walks with four strikeouts.\u00a0 Lincoln Fersdahl pitched 4 1\/3 innings and allowed an earned run on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts.<\/p>\n
Dell Rapids scored in every inning to blank Flandreau 13-0.\u00a0 They scored a run in the bottom of the first, three in the second, and three more in the third.\u00a0 Dell Rapids then had a six-run bottom of the fourth for the 13-0 score.\u00a0 After a scoreless top of the fifth, the game ended on the 10-run rule.<\/p>\n
Carson Maeschen had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs.\u00a0 Peppel had two hits and an RBI.\u00a0 Drake Eastman and Hanson both had a double with two RBIs.\u00a0 Cooper Frost added a single with an RBI.\u00a0 Ruesink and Millage both had a hit.\u00a0 Brandon Schmidt had an RBI.\u00a0 Ryan Stubbe pitched all five innings and allowed four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.<\/p>\n
Eastman allowed just two hits with no walks over five innings against MVPCS while striking out seven while the offense put 10 runs on the board in a 10-0 on Mother’s Day.\u00a0 The first inning went scoreless, but Dell Rapids scored a run in the second, two in the third, and two in the fourth.\u00a0 They would plate five runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.<\/p>\n
