The Dell Rapids high school baseball team played three games in two days at the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls on Friday, April 11th and Saturday, April 12th.\u00a0 Dell Rapids lost all three of the games to Sheyenne Mustangs, Red River Riders, and Fargo North Spartans.<\/p>\n
In the first game on Friday, Sheyenne scored just enough runs in the top of the seventh and held for the close win.\u00a0 Neither team scored in the first two innings.\u00a0 Sheyenne broke the tie with a run in the top of the third.\u00a0 Dell Rapids tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fourth.\u00a0 Sheyenne went back in front with a run in the top of the fifth.\u00a0 They added two more runs in the top of the seventh for a 4-1 lead.\u00a0 Dell Rapids plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run on second base, but the rally fell short.<\/p>\n
Cole Ruesink and Talan Millage had the only two hits in the game.\u00a0 Drake Eastman pitched five innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits and five walks with nine strikeouts.\u00a0 Lincoln Fersdahl pitched two innings and allowed two earned runs on a hit and three walks with three strikeouts.<\/p>\n
Red River used a big third inning on their way to the 13-2 victory.\u00a0 Dell Rapids scored two runs in the bottom of the first for an early 2-0 lead.\u00a0 Red River got a run in the top of the second, but then exploded for 10 runs in the top of the third inning.\u00a0 They would ad two more in the fifth.<\/p>\n
Jackson Peppel had a single with an RBI.\u00a0 Ruesink, Tad Tjaden, and Cooper Frost all had a single.\u00a0 Ryan Stubbe pitched 2 2\/3 innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts.\u00a0 Peppel allowed an earned run on three walks.\u00a0 Ruesink pitched 1\/3 of an inning and allowed seven earned runs on three hits and three walks with one strikeout.\u00a0 Tjaden pitched two innings allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts.<\/p>\n
Fargo North used a four-run top of the first to help them to a win.\u00a0 Dell Rapids scored a run in the bottom of the second to make the score 4-1.\u00a0 Farger North would get their fifth run in the top of the third inning.\u00a0 Dell Rapids did score a single run in both the fourth and sixth innings.<\/p>\n
Peppel finished with a single and two RBIs.\u00a0 Frost and Eastman each had a single.\u00a0 Quinn Carr pitched 2\/3 of an inning and allowed four earned runs on two hits and two walks.\u00a0 Connor Hanson pitched 6 1\/3 innings and allowed an unearned run on two hits and four walks with five strikeouts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
