Colton Stene made the extra point to tie the game 7-7 with 11:13 to play in the half.\u00a0 West Central regained the lead late in the quarter.\u00a0 Jesse Jost had a 26-yard touchdown run with 1:39 left, and Fischer made the extra point for a 14-7 lead.\u00a0 Beresford, however, got a score just as time expired in the first half on a six-yard run by Jack Stenen.\u00a0 The extra point tied the game 14-14 heading into halftime.<\/p>\n<p>Zirpel put the Trojans back in front late in the third quarter on a seven-yard touchdown run.\u00a0 Fischer again made the extra point, and West Central led 21-14 heading into the fourth quarter.\u00a0 Midway through the fourth quarter, Fischer made a 23-yard field goal to put West Central ahead 24-14.\u00a0 Beresford successfully executed a &#8220;hook-and-ladder&#8221; play when Tate VanOtterloo threw a pass to Zach Boden, who then pitched it to Stenen.\u00a0 Stenen raced down the sideline to complete the 40-yard touchdown play.\u00a0 The extra point was no good, and the score remained 24-20 with 3:18 to play in the game.\u00a0 The Trojans were able to secure the win by getting enough first downs on their next drive to run the clock to 0:00.<\/p>\n<p>The Watchdogs finish the 2022 season with overall record of 8-3.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Beresford Watchdog football season came to an end in the 11A semifinals at West Central on Friday, November 4th.\u00a0 The Trojans gained the lead in the second half in a 24-20 victory.
