{"id":2086,"date":"2025-05-17T15:33:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-17T20:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/beresford\/?p=2086"},"modified":"2025-05-17T15:33:10","modified_gmt":"2025-05-17T20:33:10","slug":"beresford-softball-wins-two-at-home-classic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/beresford\/2025\/05\/17\/beresford-softball-wins-two-at-home-classic\/","title":{"rendered":"Beresford Softball Wins Two at Home Classic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-258\" src=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/beresford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BeresfordWatchdogs-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"96\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/beresford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BeresfordWatchdogs-1.png 96w, https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/beresford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BeresfordWatchdogs-1-80x80.png 80w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 96px) 100vw, 96px\" \/>The Beresford Watchdog softball team hosted a classic on Saturday, May 17th.\u00a0 The Watchdogs earned wins over Avon and Dakota Valley on the day.<\/p>\n<h5>Beresford 15, Avon 6<\/h5>\n<p>Eight early runs were enough for Beresford to get a victory over the Avon Pirates in the Watchdogs&#8217; first game of the day.\u00a0 They scored five times in the bottom of the first and three more in the second for an 8-0 lead.\u00a0 Avon scored two times in the top of the third, but the Watchdogs added three more in the third and four in the fourth for a 15-2 lead.\u00a0 The Pirates did score four times in the top of the fifth before the game came to an end.<\/p>\n<p>Brynlee Mohning had four hits and three RBIs in the game.\u00a0 Ivy Keiser added three hits with four RBIs.\u00a0 Keely Merrigan added two hits, one of them a double.\u00a0 Kennedy Merrigan and Lily Seivert both had a single with an RBI.\u00a0 Tavyn Valder also had a hit.\u00a0 Rylie Laurvick pitched five innings and allowed six runs, two earned, on nine hits and three walks with five strikeouts.<\/p>\n<h5>Beresford 10, Dakota Valley 8<\/h5>\n<p>The Watchdogs came from behind two times to get a 10-8 win over the Dakota Valley Panthers in their second game.\u00a0 The Panthers scored four runs in the top of the first and another in the top of the second for a 5-0 lead.\u00a0 Beresford rallied for five runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game 5-5.\u00a0 Dakota Valley went back in front, 7-5, with two runs in the top of the third.\u00a0 The Watchdogs had their second five-run inning in the bottom of the fourth to go in front for the first time, 10-7.\u00a0 Dakota Valley plated just one run in the top of the fifth as Beresford hung on to the win.<\/p>\n<p>Keely Merrigan had two hits and three RBIs.\u00a0 Seivert finished with a single and two RBIs.\u00a0 Reese Olson, Valder, and Harley Koth all had a hit and an RBI.\u00a0 Keiser and Capri Mullinix both had a single.\u00a0 Mohning pitched five innings and allowed eight runs, six earned, on 10 hits and a walk with two strikeouts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Beresford Watchdog softball team hosted a classic on Saturday, May 17th.\u00a0 The Watchdogs earned wins over Avon and Dakota Valley on the day.
