{"id":1517,"date":"2024-05-20T00:13:12","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T05:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/beresford\/?p=1517"},"modified":"2024-05-20T00:13:13","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T05:13:13","slug":"watchdog-softball-drops-final-two-games-of-regular-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/beresford\/2024\/05\/20\/watchdog-softball-drops-final-two-games-of-regular-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Watchdog Softball Drops Final Two Games of Regular Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-258\" src=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/beresford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BeresfordWatchdogs-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"96\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/beresford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BeresfordWatchdogs-1.png 96w, https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/beresford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BeresfordWatchdogs-1-80x80.png 80w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 96px) 100vw, 96px\" \/>The Beresford Watchdog softball team dropped their final two games of the season.\u00a0 The Watchdogs host Bon Homme on Friday, May 17th and then traveled to Alcester on Saturday, May 18th.<\/p>\n<h5>Bon Homme 13, Beresford 11<\/h5>\n<p>The Watchdogs and Cavaliers went into extra innings on Friday.\u00a0 Beresford scored two runs in the bottom of the first for an early 2-0 lead.\u00a0 The Cavaliers scored three times in the top of third and five in the fourth to take an 8-2 lead.\u00a0 The Watchdogs scored twos in the fourth and one in the fifth to cut the lead to 8-5.\u00a0 Each team scored a run in the sixth, and going into the seventh inning, Bon Homme lead 9-6.\u00a0 Bon Homme added a run in the top of the seventh.\u00a0 Beresford rallied to score four times in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 10-10 and force extra innings.\u00a0 The Cavaliers scored three times in the eight inning, but the Cubs only scored one run.<\/p>\n<p>Ivy Keiser had two hits, one a home run, and three RBIs.\u00a0 Kennedy Merrigan finished with two doubles and two RBIs.\u00a0 Harley Koth had two singles and two RBIs.\u00a0 Keely Merrigan had two singles and an RBI.\u00a0 Reese Olson had three hits, including two doubles.\u00a0 Tavyn Valder had a single, and Halle Livingston had an RBI.\u00a0 Kennedy Merrigan pitched four innings and allowed four earned runs on five hits and four walks with five strikeouts.\u00a0 Rylie Laurvick pitched 2 1\/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts.\u00a0 Brynlee Mohning pitched 1 2\/3 innings and allowed five runs, two earned, on two hits and four walks with a strikeout.<\/p>\n<h5>Alcester-Hudson 6, Beresford 2<\/h5>\n<p>The Cubs scored six straight runs to defeat Beresford 6-2.\u00a0 Each team scored a run in the first inning.\u00a0 THe score remained 1-1 until the bottom of the fourth.\u00a0 Alcester-Hudson scored three times in the bottom of the fourth, and then added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth.\u00a0 Beresford added another run in the top of the seventh.<\/p>\n<p>Livingston had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs.\u00a0 Kennedy Merrigan had three hits, including a triple.\u00a0 Keely and Olson both had two hits each.\u00a0 Lauvick pitched five innings and allowed five earned runs on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.\u00a0 Mohning pitched an inning and allowed an earned run on a hit with one strikeout.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Beresford Watchdog softball team dropped their final two games of the season.\u00a0 The Watchdogs host Bon Homme on Friday, May 17th and then traveled to Alcester on Saturday, May 18th.
