Early Runs Enough for Parkston in Win over Beresford

Parkston took an early lead and held off Beresford for an 8-6 win on Friday, April 11th.

Beresford got a run in the top of the first for an early 1-0 lead.  Parkston took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the inning.  They extended the lead to 6-1 with another three-run inning in the bottom of the third.

Each team would score a run in the fourth, and Parkston led 7-2.  Beresford cut into the lead in the top of the fifth.  They scored three runs to get within two runs, 7-5.  Parkston got one more run in the bottom of the fifth for an 8-5 score.  Beresford got one run in the top of the seventh, but Parkston limited Beresford to just that lone run.

Ethan Bovill had two hits and three RBIs.  Ashton Oberle finished with two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Cooper Nelson also had two hits with an RBI.  Kasen Voss finished with a single and an RBI, and Jace Adams had a single.

Oberle pitched four innings and allowed seven runs, six earned, on eight hits and three walks with three strikeouts.  Nelson pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed just two hits and three strikeouts.  Jax Fickbohm threw 1/3 of an inning and allowed an earned run on a walk.
