The Beresford/Alcester-Hudson Black Sox 14U team evened their season record to 11-11-1 with a 9-6 victory over Canton on Wednesday, July 10th.
Canton scored two runs in the top of the first inning for an early 2-0 lead. They continued to lead 2-0 until the bottom of the third. The Black Sox then scored six times to go in front 6-2. Both teams scored two runs in the fourth inning to make the score 8-4. Canton pulled within two runs, 8-6, after scoring a couple in the top of the fifth. The Black Sox got an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.
John Savey had two hits and three RBIs. Evan Rosheim finished with two singles. Alex Adams had a triple with an RBI. Karzen Sommervold had a single and an RBI. Benjamin Seeley added a single, and Boston Jensen had an RBI. Ian Henderson pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed six runs, but just two earned, on four hits and seven walks with five strikeouts. Seeley pitched 2 1/ innings and allowed a walk with two strikeouts.
