Beresford Jr Legion Adds Three More Wins

The Beresford Jr Legion baseball team added three more wins to their total to improve to 10-3 overall.  They defeated Lennox on Tuesday, June 24th, earned a win over Sioux Falls Christian on Wednesday, June 25th, and then defeated Dakota Valley on Friday, June 27th.

Beresford 19, Lennox 3

Beresford scored in every inning as they cruised to a big win over Lennox.  They scored one in the top of the first for an early 1-0 lead.  Lennox got two runs in the bottom of the first to hold a 2-1 lead.  Beresford, however, plated nine runs in the top of the second.  They added four in the third and two in the fourth to take a 16-1 lead.  Lennox scored one more run in the bottom of the fourth, and Beresford had three more in the top of the fifth.

Evan Haak had three hits, two of them doubles, and four RBIs.  Ashton Oberle also had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs.  Ian Henderson added two hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Kason Voss had a single and two RBIs.  Tucker Martz ended with a double and an RBI.  Charlie Eide also had a single with an RBI.  Cam Mullinix had a double, and Lucas Anderson finished with an RBI.  Voss pitched five innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

Beresford 10, Sioux Falls Christian 0

Oberle pitched five innings of shut-out baseball allowing just two hits while recording five strikeouts in Beresford’s win over Sioux Falls Christian.  After two scoreless innings, Beresford erupted for six runs in the bottom of the third.  They added a run in the fourth and then ended the game on the 10-run rule with three more runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Henderson finished with three hits, two of them doubles, and an RBI.  Oberle had two doubles and two RBIs.  Eide also had two hits with two RBIs.  Voss and Hogan Hybertson both had a single and an RBI.  Mullinix had a single, and Anderson had an RBI.

Beresford 5, Dakota Valley 3

Beresford held off Dakota Valley in a 5-3 win on Friday.  They scored two runs in the bottom of the second, two in the bottom of the third, and one in the fourth for a 5-0 lead.  Dakota Valley rallied for three runs in the top of the third, but Beresford was able to shut them down the rest of the game.

Anderson had two singles and two RBIs.  Oberle, Haak, and Voss all had a single with an RBI.  Martz, Ethan Bobzin, and Ben Seeley all had one hit apiece.  Haak pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits and three walks with six strikeouts.  Bobzin pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed a hit and two walks with two strikeouts.
