Late Rally Gives Watchdogs Softball Win

The Beresford Watchdog softball team scored four late runs to take a 9-6 win over the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers on Friday, April 25th.

The Chargers scored two runs in the bottom in the first inning.  Each team scored a run in the third inning, and Sioux Falls Christian led 3-1.  The Watchdogs took a 5-3 with a four-run top of the fourth inning.  The Chargers took the lead back, 6-5, after scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Bereford regained the lead for good with three runs in in the top of the sixth.  They added an insurance run in the top of the seventh for a 9-6 lead.

Reese Olson had two triples and an RBI.  Lily Seivert had two hits, one a triple, and an RBI.  Keely Merrigan had a home run and three RBIs.  Ivy Keiser had a single and an RBI.  Tavyn Valder, Harley Koth, Brynlee Mohning, Kennedy Merrigan, and Kate Degen all had a single each.

Mohning pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed three unearned runs on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts.  Rylie Laurvick pitched three innings and allowed three hits with four strikeouts.  Kennedy Merrigan pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing three unearned runs on a hit and a walk.
