The eight-game winning streak for the Beresford Watchdog boys came to an end on Thursday, January 30th. The Sioux Valley Cossacks defeated the Watchdogs
The Watchdogs led 7-4 with 4:45 to go in the opening quarter. The Cossacks tied the score 11-11 by the end of the quarter. Sioux Valley led 19-16 with 5:15 left in the second quarter. They pushed the lead to 28-16 with 3:30 to play. Beresford rallied to pull within three points, 28-25, by halftime.
Sioux Valley scored the first four points to extend the lead to 32-25 with 5:30 left in the third quarter. They run continued, and Sioux Valley led 40-28 with 2:45 on the clock. The Watchdogs cut the lead to single digits, 44-35, going into the fourth quarter. Sioux Valley went on an 8-0 run to start the fourth quarter and continued to roll from there for the win.
Malachi James finished with 23 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Cooper Nelson added seven points in the game.
