Four Cross Country Runners Qualify for State for Beresford

The Beresford Watchdog cross country teams competed in the Region 3A meet in Elk Point on Thursday, October 17th.  The boys team placed fourth as a team, just missing qualifying the whole team for state, with 63 points.  The girls team did not register a team score.  Four runners qualified for state with top 20 finishes.

Ella Merriman, the lone varsity runner for the girls team, qualified for state with a top 20 finish.  She placed 18th with a time of 21:20.31.

Three from the boys team also qualified for state.  Hunter Penn placed ninth with a time of 17:41.05.  Espyn Klungseth was 13th in a time of 17:56.82.  Noah Halvorson took 16th in 18:08.04.  Elijah Schaap (26th) completed in 19:13.96.  Oliver Merriman (28th) had a time of 19:14.20, and Henry Huether (29th) finished in 19:14.37.

E. Merriman, Penn, Klungseth, and Halvorson will travel to Rapid City for the state meet on Saturday, October 26th.
