The Beresford Watchdogs will be making the switch from competitive dance to competitive cheer for the 2024 season. The competitive cheer team will be coached by Kristin Jensen.
“I would like to take a moment and thank the school board for the quick left turn they were willing to take when approached with the idea to go from competitive dance to competitive cheer. I am very grateful for the opportunity,” said Jensen.
There will be 21 members of the competitive team this year. They will have five seniors this season: Camryn Muhlenkort, Macy Johnson, Stella Schaap, Allie Westra, and Kylie Mockler.
“This will be a year of growth. This is our first year as a competition cheer team, but this is not to take away from the talent and determination of this team. The team consists of a diverse background of experience from tumbling and stunting but also dance and sideline cheer. I am very excited to bring it all together on the competition floor. I am so proud of this group of young women. They are proving that they are not just cheerleaders, but also academic achievers and multi-talented athletes. Many of these exceptional students have not only made the honor roll but also excel in various sports, showcasing their dedication in the classroom but as a Watchdog. We are proud Watchdogs and can’t wait for the season,” added Jensen.
