Black Sox 14U Splits Two Games in Valley Springs

The Beresford/Alcester-Hudson Black Sox 14U baseball team split two games in Valley Springs on Saturday, June 15th.  The Black Sox fell to Dakota Valley 14U and then earned a win over 5tool Sports Redemption.

Dakota Valley scored five runs right away in the bottom of the first and added another in the second for an early 6-0 lead.  The Black Sox picked up three runs in the top of the third, but Dakota Valley responded with seven in the bottom of the inning to lead 13-3.  Beresford/Alcester-Hudson scored another three runs in the top of the fourth.

Ian Henderson and Mason Hofer both had a double and an RBI each.  Benjamin Seeley added two singles.  Alex Adams had a triple.  Evan Rosheim, Karzen Sommervold, John Savey, and Emmett Manning all had one hit each.  Caleb Hansen added an RBI.  Seeley pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed eight earned runs on five hits and five walks with one strikeout.  Cameron Mullinix pitched an inning and allowed five earned runs on three hits and a walk with a strikeout.  Hofer threw 2/3 of an inning and allowed one hit.

5tool Sports Redemption got a run in the top of the first for an early 1-0 lead.  The Black Sox tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second.  They would go ahead 4-1 after a three-run bottom of the fourth.  The Black Sox held off a 5tool Sports Redemption rally, holding them to two runs to get the win.

Henderson finished with two singles.  Sommervold, Liam Moumy, and Boston Jensen all had one RBI each.  Savey threw all five innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits and five walks with three strikeouts.
