Watchdog Softball Drops Final Two Games of Regular Season

The Beresford Watchdog softball team dropped their final two games of the season.  The Watchdogs host Bon Homme on Friday, May 17th and then traveled to Alcester on Saturday, May 18th.

Bon Homme 13, Beresford 11

The Watchdogs and Cavaliers went into extra innings on Friday.  Beresford scored two runs in the bottom of the first for an early 2-0 lead.  The Cavaliers scored three times in the top of third and five in the fourth to take an 8-2 lead.  The Watchdogs scored twos in the fourth and one in the fifth to cut the lead to 8-5.  Each team scored a run in the sixth, and going into the seventh inning, Bon Homme lead 9-6.  Bon Homme added a run in the top of the seventh.  Beresford rallied to score four times in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 10-10 and force extra innings.  The Cavaliers scored three times in the eight inning, but the Cubs only scored one run.

Ivy Keiser had two hits, one a home run, and three RBIs.  Kennedy Merrigan finished with two doubles and two RBIs.  Harley Koth had two singles and two RBIs.  Keely Merrigan had two singles and an RBI.  Reese Olson had three hits, including two doubles.  Tavyn Valder had a single, and Halle Livingston had an RBI.  Kennedy Merrigan pitched four innings and allowed four earned runs on five hits and four walks with five strikeouts.  Rylie Laurvick pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts.  Brynlee Mohning pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed five runs, two earned, on two hits and four walks with a strikeout.

Alcester-Hudson 6, Beresford 2

The Cubs scored six straight runs to defeat Beresford 6-2.  Each team scored a run in the first inning.  THe score remained 1-1 until the bottom of the fourth.  Alcester-Hudson scored three times in the bottom of the fourth, and then added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth.  Beresford added another run in the top of the seventh.

Livingston had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs.  Kennedy Merrigan had three hits, including a triple.  Keely and Olson both had two hits each.  Lauvick pitched five innings and allowed five earned runs on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.  Mohning pitched an inning and allowed an earned run on a hit with one strikeout.
