Another Big Offensive Day for Beresford Softball

The Beresford Watchdog softball team had another big offensive day against Canton on Friday, May 10th.  The Watchdogs scored 21 runs on 19 hits in their 21-11 win over the C-Hawks.

Beresford got six runs right away in the top of the first inning.  Canton cut the lead in half with three runs in the bottom of the first.  A 10-run inning in the top of the second for Beresford gave them all the momentum.  The Watchdogs added two more runs in the top of the third for an 18-3 lead.  Canton was able to extend the game by scoring five times in the bottom of the third to make the score 18-8.  The Watchdogs got three more runs in the top of the fourth.  The C-Hawks scored three in the bottom of the fifth, but the game ended on the 10-run rule.

Keely Merrigan had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs.  Capri Mullinix had three hits, two of them doubles, and an RBI.  Kate Degen had three singles.  Halle Livingston finished with two hits, one a home run, and five RBIs.  Tavyn Valder added two hits, one a double, and three RBIs.  Harley Koth had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.  Anna Latendresse added two singles and an RBI.  Reese Olson had a hit and three RBIs, and Kennedy Merrigan had a hit.

Brynlee Mohning pitched three innings and allowed eight runs, five earned, on five hits and four walks with eight strikeouts.  Kennedy Merrigan pitched two innings and allowed three runs, just one earned, on two hits and three walks with five strikeouts.
