Black Sox Can’t Hold Early Lead

Despite scoring four runs in the top of the first inning, the Beresford/Alcester-Hudson Black Sox couldn’t hold the lead and fell to Canton 14-9 on Monday, April 15th.

After the Black Sox scored their four runs in the top of the first, Canton scored five times in the bottom of the inning.  Canton would four more runs in the third and two in the fourth to lead 11-4 after four innings of play.  Beresford/Alcester-Hudson scored two times in the top of the fifth, but Canton got one back in the bottom of the inning.  The Black Sox added three more in the sixth, but once again, Canton responded with two more runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Robert Watkins had two doubles and two RBIs.  Ashton Oberle added a single and an RBI.  Dominic Van Egdom finished with two hits.  Jax Fickbohm pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed nine runs, six earned, on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts.  Jacob Cole pitched 1 1/3 inning and allowed an earned run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  Joseph Anderson threw one inning and allowed an earned run on two hits and a walk.
