Late Rally Sinks Black Sox Baseball

The Beresford/Alcester-Hudson Black Sox had a 3-2 lead after four innings of play, but Scotland/Menno rallied late for a 9-3 win on Sunday, April 14th.

Both teams put two runs on the board in the first inning.  Ethan Bovill scored on a steal of home, and Joseph Anderson had an RBI double.  The Black Sox went ahead in the bottom of the third when Jace Adams hit an RBI single.  The score remained 3-2 until the top of the fifth.  Scotland/Menno then scored five times in the top of the fifth and added two more in the top of the sixth for the 9-3 lead.

Anderson finished with a double and an RBI.  Adams had a single and an RBI.  Bovill and Cooper Nelson both added a single for the Black Sox.  Bovill pitched four innings and allowed five runs, two earned, on five hits with two strikeouts.  Kason Voss pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on a hit and walk with two strikeouts.  Robert Watkins pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing two earned runs on three hits.
