Watchdog Girls Win in Opening Round of BEC Tournament

The Beresford Watchdog girls played the opening round of their Big East Conference Tournament on Thursday, January 25th at Sioux Valley High School.  The Watchdogs defeated the Baltic Bulldogs 49-31.

The Watchdogs led by just three points, 10-7, at the end of the first quarter.  The second and third quarters are where the Watchdogs built a big lead.  Beresford outscored Baltic 18-8 in the second quarter for a 28-15 lead.  The lead grew to 44-17 going into the final quarter.

Beresford finished the game shooting 38% (17-45) overall, 43% (6-14) from three-point area, and 60% (9-15) from the free-throw line.  Baltic shot 26% (13-51) overall in the game, 20% (2-10) on three-point shots, and 50% (3-6) from the free-throw line.

Lily Seivert had 15 points and three rebounds.  Ella Merrigan ended with 10 points, two rebounds, and three steals.  Kylie Mockler and Ashlynn Olson both had six points and two rebounds each.  Harley Koth finished with five points and four rebounds.
