The Beresford Watchdog volleyball team traveled to Alcester to play the Alcester-Hudson Cubs on Thursday, October 5th. The Cubs defeated the Watchdogs in straight sets by scores of 25-8, 25-15, and 25-20.
Alcester-Hudson started the night on fire getting out to a 5-1 lead. They pushed the lead to 10-3, 15-4, and then 18-6 before taking the first set 25-8. The second set started closer with a 5-5 tie. Beresford went ahead 7-9, but the Cubs responded with a 7-0 run for a 14-9 lead. That run kept Alcester-Hudson in front the rest of the set on their way to a 25-15. The Watchdogs started the third set with a 5-3 run. The Cubs went on a 4-0 run to take a 7-5 advantage. Beresford went on a run of their own, 5-0, to regain a 10-7 lead. The two teams went back and forth being tied 11-11, 16-16, and 19-19. Alcester-Hudson went ahead for good after a 4-0 run, 23-19, before winning 25-20.
