The Beresford Watchdogs hosted the Flandreau Fliers on Tuesday, October 3rd. The Fliers won the match in straight sets, but each set was tied late. The final scores were 25-23, 25-23, and 26-24.
After a 2-2 start to the first set, the Fliers took a 6-5 lead. Beresford responded with two straight to go ahead 7-6. Flandreau went on a 6-1 run for a 12-8 advantage. They continued to lead to a 21-20 score. Beresford scored three in a row to go in front 23-21. The Fliers, however, scored the final four points to steal a 25-23 win.
Flandreau started the second set with a 4-1 run. They then added to that lead with an 11-2 run for a 15-3 lead. Beresford regrouped and slowly chipped away at the lead. The Watchdogs closed the gap to 22-20 and then finally tied the score 22-22. The Fliers, however, finished the set on a 3-1 advantage to win 25-23.
The third set went back and forth through the first half of play. The score was tied 4-4, 7-7, 9-9, and again at 14-14. Beresford went on a 4-1 run to go ahead 18-15. Flandreau responded with a 6-0 run to take a 21-18 lead. The Watchdogs tied the score 22-22, and the score was tied again 24-24. Flandreau would get the final two points for the 26-24 win.
