Despite scoring five runs late, the Beresford/Alcester-Hudson 14U Black Sox fell to Vermillion by a score of 10-9 on Friday, June 23rd.
Vermillion scored in every inning including a run in the top of the first. The Black Sox scored twice in their half of the first for a 2-1 lead. Vermillion countered with three in the top of the second. BAH got one run in the bottom of the second, and after two innings of play, Vermillion lead 4-3. Each team got one run in the third inning.
Vermillion extended their lead to 8-4 after getting a run in the top of the fourth and two more in the top of the fifth. The Black Sox scored a single run in the bottom of the fifth making the score 8-5. After a run by Vermillion in the top of the sixth, BAH tied the game, 9-9, with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Vermillion took the lead with one run in the top of the seventh, which was the game-winning run.
Ashton Oberle had two hits, including a double. Evan Haak had a single and two RBIs. Ben Seeley finished with a double. Owen Serck and Kasen Voss both had a single. Payden Hoffman finished with an RBI. Oberle pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed eight runs, five earned, on eight hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Seeley pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed two unearned runs on a hit with two strikeouts.
