Watchdog Softball Falls in Opening Round of State A Tournament

The #7 seeded Beresford Watchdogs drew a tough opponent in the opening round of the 2023 South Dakota State A Softball Tournament.  The Watchdogs fell to #2 West Central 16-1 on Thursday, June 1st in Aberdeen.

West Central took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.  The Trojans then put eight more runs on the board in the bottom of the second and another 2 in the bottom of the third for an 11-0 lead.  Beresford got their lone run in the top of the fourth.  Brenna Dann scored on an error to make the score 11-1.  The Trojans ended the game in the bottom of the fourth with five more runs.

Dann and Ivy Keiser had the only two hits in the game for the Watchdogs.  Dann pitched three innings allowing 16 runs, nine of them earned, on 16 hits and one walk.

The Watchdogs will play Elk Point-Jefferson in the consolation round.
