Watchdogs Slowly Build Lead in Win over Flandreau

The Beresford Watchdog softball team slowly built a lead throughout the game in a 9-1 win over the Flandreau Flyers on Monday, May 15th.

Brenna Dann provided an RBI ground out in the top of the first for an early 1-0 lead.  Dann added an RBI single in the top of the third making the score 2-0.  Halle Livingston had an RBI single, and Kate Degen had an RBI ground out in the top of the fourth to extend the lead to 4-0.

Lily Seivert made the score 5-0 after an RBI ground out in the top of the fifth.  Capri Mullinix added an RBI ground out in the top of the sixth. Beresford then scored three times in the top of the seventh.  Harley Koth had an RBI single, Livingston had another RBI single, and Kaylee Ivarsen had an RBI sacrifice fly.  Flandreau got their lone run in the bottom of the seventh.

Dann had three hits, two of them doubles, and two RBIs.  Livingston also had three hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Koth added a single and RBI.  Keely Merrigan and Ivy Keiser each had a single.  Seivert, Ivarsen, Mullinix, and Degen all had an RBI.  Dann pitched all seven innings allowing one earned run on eight hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts.
