The Beresford Watchdog (3-6) softball team won their second game in a row on Tuesday, May 2nd. Beresford scored a whopping 15 runs in the third inning in a 20-9 win over the Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy (FMFA) Phoenix.
Brenna Dann scored on a passed ball in the top of the first for an early 1-0 lead. The Phoenix took the lead in the bottom of the first with two runs. Ivy Kesier was hit by a pitch with the bases load in the top of the second to tie the game. Dann reached on an error that scored two runs giving Beresford a 4-2 lead. After holding FMFA scoreless in the bottom of the second, the Watchdogs scored 15 times in the third. The biggest. hit of the inning was a two-run double by Jaiden Johnson. The Phoenix scored six times in the bottom of the third, but Beresford led 19-8. Each team scored a run in the fourth inning.
Johnson had two hits, one a double, and three RBIs. Keiser had two hits and two RBIs. Dann finished with two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Kennedy Merrigan had two hits and an RBI. Halle Livingston and Kate Degen both had a single and two RBIs. Victoria Sharpe and Ashlynn Olson each had a single and one RBI. Reese Olson added an RBI. Dann pitched five innings and allowed nine runs, one earned, on eight hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.
